About UPA


The purpose of the Urban Planning Association (UPA) is:

To be the official department representative for students in the Urban Planning and Urban Studies programs of the Department of Geography, Planning & Environment;

To provide departmental representatives for the Department of Geography, Planning & Environment, ASFA Council, and other bodies as further required;

To offer academic and social events to the student body.


With 390 students registered for this new and exciting year, we hope to accommodate their needs both academically and socially while raising the profile of the UPA within and outside of Concordia University.

We hope to achieve this by:

  • Broadening our existing network to include and collaborate with other clubs and organizations within Concordia University to plan inter-disciplinary events;
  • Providing a more inclusive environment that will allow students to actively participate in and organize social and academic events for the upcoming year;
  • Holding events such as roundtable discussions with experienced planners, a student exposition, networking events, study groups, trivia nights, film screenings as well as creative and technical urban design tutorials.
